Frequently Asked Questions
Both are steel roof frames. Trusses made from heavier steel sections suit large spans and heavy loads, while C-trusses use lighter cold-formed C-sections that are quick to install on many buildings.
Steel does not rot or attract termites, spans wider distances and is consistent in strength. Timber can still suit some homes; see our Roof Structure Construction service for timber roofs.
Metal deck, insulated PU metal deck and roof tiles can all be fixed to a steel roof structure, with the purlin or batten spacing set to suit the roofing.
Galvanised or properly coated steel, good roof drainage and regular checks to touch up damaged coating all help a steel roof structure last.
